- CanalSur Radio and Television, as host television, will present the AI-based experiences it already uses in its day-to-day operations
- Seville hosts the 10th edition of the 4K HDR Summit, to be held at the Nissan Cartuja Auditorium from November 11 to 14 in hybrid format, coinciding with the 21st edition of the Seville European Film Festival
AI-based applications in the audiovisual world will be one of the hot topics of the X edition of the 4K HDR Summit, “Where technology and content have time to talk”. There is no doubt that Generative Artificial Intelligence is going to have a huge impact on the audiovisual industry, helping to cut production costs and speeding up the creation processes and, above all, improving the productivity so far known.
But where to start? The world’s experts in Ultra High Definition (UHD) will meet in Seville from November 11 to 14 at the 4K HDR Summit to discuss Artificial Intelligence in audiovisual and other advances.
This annual meeting, which will be held in hybrid format with two face-to-face sessions (Monday 11 and Tuesday 12) at the Nissan Cartuja Auditorium and two virtual sessions (13 and 14), will coincide this year with the 21st edition of the Seville European Film Festival.
Companies, institutions and associations from Asia, the United States, Latin America and Europe meet in an event already consolidated as a world reference on technology and content in Ultra High Definition (UHD). As it has been doing since the first edition of the 4K HDR Summit, Canal Sur Radio and Television will be present at this event. The director of CanalSur Media, Juanma Blanco Poley; Juande Mellado, general director of Canal Sur Radio and Television; and Rafael Porras, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RTVA, will be responsible for presenting and sharing with professional attendees the Andalusian channel’s commitment to technological innovation.
AI in the new interactive television
Among the many projects in which the Andalusian public broadcaster is embarked, Artificial Intelligence is one of its main axes. Thus, Juanma Blanco Poley will be responsible for sharing the experiences that are being carried out with AI in CanalSur Media, an area of the company embedded in the direction of Innovation, Business and Communication, which in recent years has been oriented towards the modernization of its digital services, content personalization and improving the user experience.
CanalSur is a benchmark in the adoption of innovative technologies to stay at the forefront of audiovisual media trends and offer a more competitive service in the digital media environment, which has meant an improvement in the attraction and loyalty of its audience.
The personalization of the user experience has marked the roadmap in the development of new projects of CanalSur Media, which has focused its work on the implementation of Artificial Intelligence with an approach very similar to that used by major global streaming platforms.
A future by and for the audience
Among the advantages of Artificial Intelligence, content automation, the implementation of virtual assistants or the analysis of consumption patterns allow improving interaction with viewers. The use of AI in CanalSur Media not only represents a technical improvement, but also a change in the way content is distributed and consumed.
As technologies advance, CanalSur adopts new AI-driven solutions to both improve accessibility and deliver more personalized and efficient content. With increasing competition in the digital media environment, AI integration is crucial to keep CanalSur Media relevant and engaging to its ever-changing audience.
This also implies an evolution towards a richer interactive television, where viewers can have more control over what they watch and how they interact with the content. Even the content itself is not exempt from the use of these technologies, such as the experiences based on Generative AI carried out by the Andalusian public television in its program “Andalucía en Semana Santa“, broadcasted by Canal Sur Televisión and produced by ADM.
The program, presented by Enrique Romero, incorporated in its last season innovative pieces made with Artificial Intelligence; short audiovisual pieces that recreated historical aspects and legends that are still present today in the Holy Week of Andalusia. In its elaboration, the most advanced video broadcasting models were used to recreate the scenarios and the characters that starred in them, in one of the first experiences using this technology in a television entertainment program in Spain.
Recreated with Artificial Intelligence, Andalusians could see in some of the “Andalusia at Easter” episodes such as “The origin of Easter“, “The legend of El Abuelo de Jaén“, “The life of La Roldana” or, among others, “The story of the bandit Zamarrilla and the Virgin of the Amargura of Malaga“.
The conferences of the 4K HDR Summit 2024 can be followed on Medina Media Events’ ‘The Observatory’ and will be available 24/365. On this platform, attendees can also schedule video meetings with other participants and speakers, in addition to exclusive virtual demonstrations.
