The 10th edition of the 4K HDR Summit will be held in Seville at the Cartuja Auditorium from November 11 to 14 in hybrid format, coinciding with the 21st edition of the Seville European Film Festival
Within the broad agenda that will feature the tenth edition of the 4K HDR Summit in Seville, half a dozen women experts in the audiovisual industry will share their vision and experience in this annual summit “Where technology and content have time to talk”.
It will be held in Seville from November 11 to 14 during two face-to-face sessions (Monday 11 and Tuesday 12) at the Cartuja Auditorium and two virtual sessions (13 and 14), coinciding with the 21st edition of the Seville European Film Festival, where some of the most prominent women in the sector will talk about the present, the future and the applications of the most advanced technology (UHD/4K, HDR, 8K), as well as Artificial Intelligence (AI), one of the main axes on which the sector revolves.
The evolution of DTT in Spain, by Julia Criado
As European leader in Ultra High Definition (UHD) transmitted by Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), Spain will have a very relevant role in the tenth edition of the 4K HDR Summit with the presence of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Public Function, which will explain its future plans to further increase this leadership. Julia Criado, advisor to the General Secretariat, will be in charge of explaining the constant work that Spain, which is a European leader in this field, is carrying out in the technological evolution of DTT with the modernization of the television infrastructure and the improvement of the viewer experience through DVB-T2 transmission technology, once the cessation of Standard Definition (SD) broadcasts in the European Union was completed in February this year and all digital terrestrial television broadcasts in Spain are already in High Definition (HD).
Araceli García Cuartango, CEO at Axión and Lineox
Among the list of Spanish participants is Araceli García Cuartango, CEO at Axion and Lineox, who will greet those present at the first day of the 4K HDR Summit. Telecommunications Engineer by the Polytechnic University of Madrid has extensive professional experience in the audiovisual industry, being the key areas of expertise in technology management and transformation, with a deep knowledge of leadership and management in multinational and multicultural organizations.
What is volumetric video?
Another of the national speakers at this annual summit will be Ana Dmínguez, senior researcher at Vicomtech, who will present the challenges and applications in audiovisual production of volumetric video, a promising and booming technology due to the popularization of Extended Reality (XR) applications. Although its application offers more realistic, dynamic and flexible interactions in various areas, “developing a platform to transmit live volumetric video is a complex challenge, but also a great opportunity for the future of virtual production,” says Ana Dominguez, part of the multidisciplinary team of researchers and highly qualified technicians with this technology center based in San Sebastian.
For an immersive experience
The French Anaïs Libolt, director of broadcast and content in Europe Dolby, will be responsible for unpacking the essential work that this American multinational has played in the evolution of more realistic and immersive experiences leveraging technologies such as Dolby Vision and immersive audio with Dolby Atmos. With the aim of improving viewer engagement and experiences, Dolby has developed the progressive adoption of Dolby Atmos for live sports production, film and television. On the other hand, Sonia Valladares, Staff Solutions Engineer at Dolby, and coordinator of the reception and audio group at UHD Spain, will participate in an interesting panel at UHD Spain where a special emphasis will be placed on Artificial Intelligence applied to the UHD environment.
Next-generation MPEG-H Audio
The Spanish-German Elena Burdiel, senior engineer at the German institute Fraunhofer IIS and coordinator of the encoding and audio group in UHD Spain, will be responsible for exposing how it is developing the new generation audio MPEG-H Audio with which the user experience rises to new heights. This German institute, which for over 30 years has shaped the standards and technologies deployed worldwide in the fields of audio and video production, will have in the 4K HDR Summit with a demo of Immersive Audio that can enjoy all those registered for the event during the two days in person.
The conferences of the 4K HDR Summit 2024, with the participation of professionals, speakers and companies from 18 countries in Asia, America and Europe, can be followed in ‘The Observatory’, Medina Media Events and will be available 24/365. On this platform, attendees can also schedule video meetings with other participants and speakers, in addition to exclusive virtual demonstrations.
